The Glancynon was built in 1887 and was considerably different to how the building is today. At the dawn of the twentieth century The Glan consisted of a public house and a china shop! In 1971, the pub was purchased by an 18 year old, making him the youngest licensee in the United Kingdom! The building was then extended to house a lounge, back bar and a cellar.
The staff and owners of The Glan are dedicated to preserving the heritage of our well loved country pub. And we are just as passionate about providing high quality food and drink, and look forward to welcoming you to our a traditional village pub.
The staff at The Glan will look after you whether serving great modern British food in our restaurant, pulling you a pint at the end of a hard day’s work in our bar, or even when enjoying the garden.
Our garden also now boasts a huge shelter which is perfect for your dog to rest under whilst enjoying a nice cold bowl of water. The Glancynon also has space for bikes to be secured, which is handy as we are very near a great Sustrans route.
Set on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in the village of Hirwaun, we are lucky to be situated by such beautiful countryside. For those who enjoy country pursuits such as cycling, walking, horse riding – you are well catered for as there are numerous walking/cycling routes that pass us, such as The Powder Trail, Pontneddfechan, Waterfall Country.
This means you can always take a break to visit us for some light refreshment or a good hearty meal to keep you going!
The Glancynon offers a place where discerning customers know they will always find quality and excellent service, by staff who care.
